Auditing Your Energy: A Check-In for Alignment
Auditing your energy is a mindful practice of noticing where your vitality goes, and whether it’s being well spent. Think of it as bookkeeping for your soul: tracking deposits and withdrawals of your life force.
What an Energy Audit Is (and Isn’t)
An energy audit isn’t about judging yourself or cutting out everything that feels “hard.” We both know it’s often the most uncomfortable tasks that hold our growth. It’s about awareness — learning which activities, people, and habits fuel you, and which quietly deplete you.
For example:
Talking with a close friend might energize you.
Scrolling through social media might drain you.
Going for a walk might restore you.
Saying “yes” to something you don’t want might exhaust you.
When you know where your energy goes, you can make wiser choices about how to spend it.
Writing Exercise: Your Personal Energy Audit
Grab a journal or open a blank document. Take 10 quiet minutes for this reflection.
Step 1: List your top 5 daily activities.
What do you spend the most time doing — both for work and life?
Step 2: Next to each one, rate your energy afterward:
+(gives me energy)–(drains my energy)=(neutral)
Step 3: Reflect.
What patterns do you notice?
Are there more “–” activities than “+”?
Which “+” activities could you prioritize more often?
Are there any “–” activities you can delegate, shorten, or say no to?
Are there any “+” activities it’s time to start implementing regularly. Any day can be day one…
The Takeaway
Your energy is your most valuable currency — more than time, more than money. When you spend it consciously, you create space for joy, creativity, and calm.
Audit your energy regularly. Small adjustments, made with awareness, can transform not just your productivity — but your peace.
Love you!
