Vata Season Balance
Yoga is far beyond the physical postures. The alignment that is a key element and allows for the free flow of energy in a physical practice is present in all areas of life in yoga philosophy.
Ayurveda, a holistic life science which directly translates to “knowledge of life” is an ancient practice from India used to align the body and energy with nature to optimize digestive and energetic function and reduce inflammation, therefore, disease.
The ancient teachings of Ayurveda, to which I was first introduced in Yoga Teacher Training in 2018, have always stuck and made sense to me. It can be a lot to digest (pun intended), so I have taken in and applied information slowly to build understanding and habits that actually stick. Each season, I gather what’s happening in nature, how it relates to my body, and use Ayurveda (using food, elements air, water, and fire, and spices) to strike a balance that reduces skin & gut irritation and helps me flow with, not against, life’s rhythm.
When implementing changes in health, I find it’s best to start small and ease in. Lean into what resonates and works with the flow of your life, and slowly build from there.
Here’s my guide to balance during Vata season:
