My at-home matcha latte recipe + why it’s my go-to morning beverage

Matcha is a type of green tea grown in the shade, which enhances its “amount of certain phytochemicals.” This means, its method of growing and harvesting gives it more vibrant health benefits than regular green tea, the highlights being antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It comes in many powder forms now, but you want to look for a pure, organic matcha with nothing else added.

Matcha has about 50% lower caffeine content than coffee, and contains L-theanine, contributing to mental alertness and clarity. That’s why you’ll likely feel just as awake from coffee, but perhaps not as jittery.

Long story short, I had a crazy rash ON MY FACE in 2020 and was trying everything I could to heal naturally, including cutting out caffeine. Cleansing from caffeine didn’t exactly heal my dermatitis, but other caffeine-free benefits ended up low-key changing my life. Over time, as I became less strict about the “no caffeine life,” on days when I was really tired and wanted a little boost, I made the switch to matcha.

I don’t even want to know how much money I’ve spent on matcha lattes. Over the years, I have perfected my at-home recipe and look forward to it after mediation every morning. The benefits on lasting energy and cognitive enhancement are real for me. Who knows, maybe I’ll offer my own matcha under the Wild Grace Wellness brand some day! Enjoy!
